In DAY series molecular sieves, the nominal form of the cation is hydrogen. But unlike conventional HY molecular sieves, DAY-30 zeolite catalyst features a further dealuminated framework structure. This modification greatly improves its thermal stability, while maintaining relatively robust acidity.
In terms of thermal performance, DAY-30 zeolite delivers superior steam resistance, tolerates higher regeneration temperatures, and effectively avoids framework collapse. In terms of acidic properties, the moderately low silica-to-alumina ratio endows DAY-30 zeolite with abundant Brønsted acid sites and excellent cracking activity, granting it strong heavy oil cracking capacity. Therefore, DAY-30 zeolite catalyst is often considered a high-activity type of USY zeolite catalyst.
DAY-30 zeolite commonly acts as a FCC catalyst due to its outstanding cracking activity, high gasoline yield, and favorable LPG yield. It also serves as an acidic support and cracking component, and pairs well with metals including nickel and platinum to formulate hydrocracking catalysts. Beyond catalytic applications, DAY-30 functions as a high performance zeolite adsorbent. It shows excellent adsorption capability toward benzenes, hydrocarbons, alcohols and aldehydes, which enables its extensive use in VOC reduction, air purification and wastewater treatment processes.
