Type 13X/NaX molecular sieve exhibits exceptional adsorption capacity for both polar and certain non-polar molecules. Compared with type 3A, 4A, 5A, and 10X molecular sieves, 13X molecular sieve offers the largest pore opening and the highest equilibrium adsorption capacity, particularly for carbon dioxide and moisture.
One of the most important applications of 13X molecular sieve is in cryogenic air separation units (ASUs), where it removes water vapor, carbon dioxide, and trace hydrocarbons from compressed air before low-temperature distillation. This prevents equipment blockage and ensures efficient operation of the air separation process.
13X/NaX molecular sieve is available in bead and pellet (strip) forms to meet different process requirements. The spherical bead form provides low pressure drop and uniform gas flow distribution, while the strip form offers higher bulk density and increased adsorption capacity per unit volume. Both forms are widely used in pressure swing adsorption (PSA), temperature swing adsorption (TSA), and other industrial adsorption systems.
13X/NaX remains one of the most versatile and widely used adsorbents in the fields of gas separation, air purification, industrial drying, environmental protection, and petrochemical processing. For instance, in oxygen generation industry, 13X/NaX molecular sieve selectively adsorbs nitrogen from compressed air, allowing the production of high-purity oxygen; in natural gas industry, it is extensively used for dehydration, carbon dioxide removal, hydrogen sulfide removal, and purification of natural gas streams.
